We here at R29 are huge music lovers, just check our last.fm profile. Depending on the mood of the day or the mood of the moment our playlists are always changing. When the day calls for some laid back creative music a great artist to turn to is Chris Botti.
Botti is an awesome trumpeter and an amazing performer. He released his first solo album back in 1995 and continued to grow and evolve as a artist with every new release. Botti draws from the different worlds of pop, jazz, classical, and other genres as well. He is known for the warmth and complexity of his tone along with ability to combine pure raw feeling with his gifted improvisational skills.
Sting is one of the great artists that Botti has worked with and calls a friend. He joined Sting’s band as featured soloist on the “Brand New Day” tour, which had a two year run. Botti has appeared in dozens of albums besides his own . And has worked with performers from all different spectrums of the music world.
Botti’s latest special guests performance was held at Boston’s historic Symphony Hall. Artists included Sting, Josh Groban, Steven Tyler, Yo-Yo Ma, John Mayer, Katharine McPhee, Lucia Micarelli, and Sy Smith on stage with him and the Boston Pops Orchestra. PBS featured the concert during it’s March Pledge drive “Chris Botti in Boston” Columbia Records is releasing the music and footage of the concert on Tuesday March 31st.
If you wanted to catch him locally he’ll be performing at the Chicago Theater, Sunday May 10th. O

Sweet! Thanks for the recommendation!
Yeah, thanks for the Chris Botti recommendation. I’m also pleased to see that our music compatibility on last.fm is medium. That’s actually pretty good!
Hey, I want to buy an album of Chris Botti. Which one do you recommend?
His latest studio album “Italia” is great. I’m looking forward to his new live album that comes out in March “Live in Boston” “To Love Again” is full of his duets with other artist such as Sting and Steven Tyler.
Hope that Helps!
“italia” gotcha. I finally came back to this post to see if there was a response to my questions. And there is! thank you!
