Awhile ago we adopted Highrise to clean up what we thought was a top-notch, custom, FileMaker database. We never really thought there was another “custom” option available until we heard about this simple yet robust tool from 37Signals. After the pain and agony of transferring our fairly large database out of our old clunker system into HighRise we found that its online interface is quite seamless even though it’s not that custom database we previously used.
The simplicity of Highrise is key! The ease in which we can do our daily tasks like emailing clients, adding notes, or tagging for our next mailing is phenomenal. In addition to the great user interface there are a few key features that we can’t live without. In fact how did we do business without it?
1 – Centralized contacts, email, and conversations
Working without this is unimaginable. Highrise gives you the ability to not only take notes for each client but also to BCC the database when sending an email. Now under our current and potential clients there are notes and email strings that sum up everything we may need to know about a particular project. This saves us time and keeps everyone on the same page with the details for each contact.
2 – Deal Tracking
It took us too long to integrate this into our process… but as of this year it is in full swing. By tracking our proposals, estimates, and invoices under deals we now have a single place to reference all of our transactions. By using the email feature, notes and creating deals each step of our process is captured into Highrise. Gone are the times of searching through inboxes and binders of estimates, invoices, and RFP’s.
3 – Import Export + Tags
Rule29 loves to keep in touch with our friends and clients. Highrise gives us the ability to tag each contact specifically so we know what mailing lists they are on or whether they are a vendor, client or enemy. Having the ability to easily create, delete, and rename tags has become an integral part in making sure are clients are always in touch with Rule29.
