We humbly present to you the next up in our work series: the MacDonald Photography identity system. When photographer Brian MacDonald came to us for a fresh, stylish look at his branding, we started from scratch to create a powerful and sophisticated look for his company.
For his logo, we created a silhouette of him behind the lens. The rough-edged mark combined with the clean custom serif type showcases photography as an art form and craft. And since photography is all about the effects of light, we used a deep, custom Pantone blend black as the foundation of his identity pieces. We added contrasting colors of blue, red, green, and white to represent the different areas of his studio: REVEAL THE VISION (commercial portraiture), CAPTURE THE MOMENT (film), and FEAST YOUR EYES (food portraiture).
As you know, a photographer relies on his portfolio. That’s why we created this unique custom-built DVD portfolio piece that houses 1-5 DVDs, with interchangeable branding pieces so he can target any specific audience.
Recently, this identity system was recognized in HOW’s self-promotion annual. You can also view MacDonald Photography’s website and be inspired by stunning photography. Also, check out macpix.com for the delicious videography branch, MacDonald Productions.
