“Hope is faith holding out its hand in the dark.” —George Iles
On Tuesday, January 12, 2010 the world fell silent in disbelief as news of the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti reached its way across the globe. Images began spreading of families and aid workers digging through the rubble of once functional buildings. Stories of orphaned children, separated families and waning food and water overtook headlines.
As the world watched this tragedy unfold across our screens and newspapers people and companies began asking how they could help. One of those companies is Moxie Sozo, an advertising and design studio based in Boulder Colorado.
Hooking up with Josh Higgins, the organizer of the 2007 SO-Cal Fire Poster Project, Moxie, who headed up the 2005 Hurricane Poster Project, are creating the 2010 Haiti Poster Project.
The purpose of this project is to engage the creative community, doing something they love, to create a difference in the world, specifically for the people of Haiti.
This project, similar to its predecessors, encourages a collaboration of artists and designers from around the world to create posters that will be sold to benefit victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
Artists and designers are asked to make a limited edition Haiti based poster and donate them to The Haiti Poster Project. All proceeds from the sales of these posters will go to Doctors Without Borders. The goal is to raise $1,000,000.
Always looking for opportunities to lend a helping hand to any struggling neighbor, Rule29, in partnership with O’Neil Printing and Appleton Coated decided to participate. We felt in the midst of all of the turmoil and trauma, it is hope that will carry people through, so our poster design is about just that; Hope. From the individual reaching out in faith with the hope of rescue from a tragic situation, to the rescuer, hoping there are people alive to save, each carries with them a strong, desperate Hope.

Feeling the urge to lend a hand (or a poster) as well? Check out The Haiti Poster Project and be a part of creating a difference. Click here to find details for submissions. Final date for submissions is May 1st, 2010.
Want to get a sneak peek at what other artists and designers are contributing? You can check out the R29 submission along with others on Facebook.
Every helping hand counts, let us know what you are doing!
