It’s Time to Be in Charge

Each year, we pair with some of our partners to create a new promotional piece that we can send out to design friends, clients, and anyone else who has somehow found their way onto our mailing list. We always set out to make this piece a great example of each partner’s capabilities (plain speak – the promos are always pretty rad). For those that don’t remember, last year was our Life In Abundance book, the year before that was our 29 Reasons to Vote and our 3Feasts wine journal.

This year, we wanted to create a piece that was not only easy on the eyes, but also functional in an every day sort of way. After many hours of brainstorming, several Starbucks runs, and the occasional rock-paper-scissors match, we landed on the idea of a perpetual desk calendar. It’s a calendar because, let’s face it, everyone can stand to be a little more organized. It’s perpetual because we don’t want the content within the calendar to go unread once we reach 2011. The calendar is titled Be in Charge for a pretty straightforward reason. We wanted to provide a (somewhat tongue-in-cheek) look at several ways (12 to be exact) to be more effective in the workplace. Whether it’s by eliminating distractions or by playing a game of office hoops, we hope that the suggestions found within can help serve as a reminder of the opportunities every day to step up and take control of your professional life.

But, we thought to ourselves, “yeah, this calendar is sweet, but how do we continue to add content and value throughout the year?”

That’s where the companion site comes in. BeinChargeofYou.com is the site for everything we couldn’t fit into the calendar. We wanted to really make a campaign that utilized both mediums in unique ways, while still relating and working with one another.

On the site you’ll currently find information on the project and the partners involved as well as some backgrounds that you can spruce up your digital desktop (or phone) with. And stay tuned, we plan on adding more content as the year progresses.

We managed to have about 10 extra copies of the calendar avaiable, so if you don’t think you’re on the list, but you’d like to get a copy, leave a comment and we’ll do our best to hook you up.
